Gem Master Listing Proposal
By Ken Hollis (You want standards? I'll GIVE you STANDARDS! :)
(Yes, this was typed up quick, but it's a good proposal for a perfectly
good listing; follow this to keep me up to date!)
Note: Anyone wishing to receive an automated listing of the GEM Master
Listing should write to me at goemon@venice.mps.ohio-state.edu
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am writing this new proposal for my GEM Master Listing. The GEM Master
Listing contains information about all programs that have used WM_* and
WF_* messages, Extended Object Types, and other information that is
pertinent to programming. Anyone who wishes to create new WM_*, WF_*, or
Extended Object Type indices should first write to me regarding such
entries in the listing, and for extra information. Anyone who registers
with the listing will automatically receive new updates of the listing
periodically, as it is updated.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Method of registration:
"""""""""""""""""""""""
WM_* and WF_* messages:
Anyone who wishes to register with WM_* and WF_* indices should first
check the GEM Master Listing. After they have checked the listing, they
should then write the following in a message titled "WM_/WF_ registration."
The body of the message should contain:
Program name: Current version:
New WM_/WF_ index(s):
Index values:
What they do, and how they are called:
Extended Object Types:
""""""""""""""""""""""
For someone wishing to register new Extended Object Types, you must have
the title "EObT registration" and the body of the message should contain:
Program name: Current version:
New Extended Object Type:
Object Type requirements: (this is what the ob_type should be)
What it does:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since I am not totally requiring anyone to register new object states or
flags, I don't deem it necessary. However, if you wish to send the infor-
mation, it would be very helpful for the listing. There are no official
registrations for these indices, but they are included in the listing.
Anyone wishing to follow this registration procedure should write to
679-5560@MCImail.com
Any registrations to any other addresses will be ignored.
